SSHRC Insight Grant 2020-2025| Constitutional Legacies of the Privy Council

I’m delighted to announce that, following the latest 2019 SSRHC Insight Grants competition, I received a 5-year $196,836 grant for my project on the constitutional legacies of the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council. This project will be the first comprehensive study of the role of this judicial body in the history and development of the constitutional law in Commonwealth countries. Once the supreme court of the entire British Empire, that spanned a quarter of the world and its population, the Privy Council’s jurisdiction survives today in 27 countries and territories, and its jurisprudence continues to be cited in Canada and throughout the Commonwealth.
